First Attempt – Lighting Scotland

First attempt at landscape lightpainting…

Dawn by TorchlightDawn by Torchlight:
My first attempt was early morning, well most would probably call it the middle of the night, 4am start, because I was away and couldn’t sleep.
Anyway this was shot before the sun had risen, but there was a light in the sky, although not much, the 2 minuet exposure gives a bit of a false impression of how light it was.
It didn’t take me long to realise that I was doing this all back to front, as I had to set up in almost total darkness, couldn’t see for composition and no proper point to focus on, suffice to say I now set up in fading light and do my thing as the light falls, much easier.
Its a bit hard to be discreet with a 2 million candle power torch, and it wasn’t long before the Police arrived to see what was going on, something I have got used to, mostly they are intrigued and just go on their way.
