Out and about with The Hylander – Lighting Scotland

Paint it Light: Lightpainting…

Paint it Light

On a recent night excursion with Stu Luddite88 Hyland we went to a localish location with some interesting abandoned buildings and the obligatory array of torches, tripods and shutter releases to seek out something a bit different from the well known Scottish Landmarks, the intention always to take something that is usually fairly ordinary and make it look a bit different from what most people see. The usual stumbling around in the dark coupled this time with some cow pat dodging, just to add to the fun!

As an added bonus the orange glow in the sky from distant Edinburgh and surrounding suburbs to add a bit of surreal sky detail, something that is usually fairly subtle to the eye, but picked up more by the camera due to the moderately long exposure of approximately 90 seconds.
Shooting details, for those that are interested were, daylight white balance, approx 5200k, f5.6 lit with two torches of 2 million and 3.5 million candle power.
Please see the Lightpainting gallery for more work like this.
