In Camera Motion blur…
Back in the pre digital days of film I started working on some photographic experiments manipulating the aperture of the lens and using flash to freeze a subject during zoom and camera movement, due to its very hit and miss approach it was put on hold indefinably because it was just too costly. Having come across some old negatives recently, I thought that now with the instant feedback and costless experimentation that digital has to offer, it would be a good time to revisit this idea as a mini project, so here are a few examples of the results from the motion blur experiments. On the right is the test image using fill flash combined with camera movement.
Camera Exif Data:
Camera: Canon EOS 40D, Lens: Canon 24-105mm f4 L IS, Focal length: 70mm (112mm, 35mm format full frame equivalent, Exposure mode: Manual, Metering: Spot, Exposure: 1/20 sec, Aperture: f16, ISO: 400
Image 2 Posessed: Camera movement, twisting during capture, fill flash to freeze model subject whilst creating a vortex effect in the background.
